Tai Chi Punching Bag Drill Video: 1 Inch Power Generation

This morning a new Tai Chi punching bag drill instructional video posted.  This video will teach you how to use a punching bag to generate good striking power over a short distance, which is a very important skill to have in Tai Chi, or any other martial art.  A new video for this free instructional series will post on my YouTube channel every Saturday at 9:00am until this series is complete.  We hope you find this video very useful in your practice and wish you the best in your training.  Enjoy!  :)

Yang Tai Chi Posture: Snake Creeps Down Video

In Yang Style Tai Chi the posture "Snake Creeps Down" is one of the postures that gives new students a lot of trouble.  It is a fairly complicated set of movements to coordinate when you first attempt it and it can be very beneficial to break the movements down and take them piece at a time.  In this video Andrew takes this posture from the Yang Tai Chi 24 Form and shows it as a line-drill (where a move is repeated over and over while moving in one direction for the purpose of perfecting the move) and breaks it down into smaller pieces.  He also shows a couple of variations for those who have strong, flexible legs and like lower stance, as well as for those who prefer higher stances.  This video is a part of the free Tai Chi and Qigong lessons that Andrew has available on his YouTube Channel.  We hope you find it very helpful in your training.

The First Open Tai Chi Night

On October 28, 2013 we will be holding our very first "Open Tai Chi Night" at the KSW Karate Dojo in Pine Grove.  This night is for anyone who is curious about Tai Chi or who has loved ones who are curious about Tai Chi, to come see what it's all about, free of charge.  It's also a night for anyone who currently practices Tai Chi and would like to meet other, local practitioners.  We hope to see you and your loved ones there!  :)

"Open Tai Chi Night" starts at 6:00p.m.

Look for the big grey building on Hwy. 88, in Pine Grove.  We'll be there.  :)

"Rise and Shine" Qi Gong in the Jackson Park

Just a heads up that on Saturday (7-30-11) I will be hosting a Qi Gong "Rise and Shine" session in the Jackson park at 6:30am.  It will last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how much fun we're having.  :)  Qi Gong exercises help open the body's vital energy flow and they relax the mind while revitalizing the body.  They are meditative movements that focus on breathing and mental concentration.  You won't need to wear any special clothes just dress in layers as it will still probably be a bit brisk at this time of the morning.  :)  I will accept donations, but there is no obligation to pay anything for this "Rise and Shine" session.  This is just about starting your weekend off right.  :)  I hope to see you there and please tell everyone you know who would be interested in trying this.  :)
