This is the first video in a series that takes a deep dive into silk reeling. The first videos in this series are meant to give you a theoretical and conceptual understanding of what Silk Reeling is and how to apply it in your Tai Chi practice. Videos in the latter portion of this series will teach you actual silk reeling exercises so you can work on developing your silk reeling skills.
Silk Reeling (Chan si) has to primary components in Tai Chi practice. The first is Silk Reeling Energy (Chan Si Jin) which consists of all the spirally motion through the body that turns a movement into a Tai Chi movements. The other aspect is Silk Reeling Training (Chan Si Gong) which consists mainly of the exercises used to develop and refine the Silk Reeling Energy/motion (Chan Si Jin).
There are many videos out there that teach the movements of Silk Reeling Training (Chan Si Gong) without teaching the principles of motion that turn those movements into Silk Reeling Training. This series is meant to fill in the gaps and make sure that you are getting the most out of your Silk Reeling and Tai Chi training.
