World Tai Chi and Qigong Day in Amador County

Amador County's 2014 World Tai Chi and Qigong Day celebration was the last World Tai Chi and Qigong Day event hosted by Ancient Wisdom for The New You in Amador County. It took place on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Pine Grove, CA.  World Tai Chi and Qigong Day (WTCQD) is a worldwide celebration of the ancient Chinese arts of Tai Chi Chuan (a Chinese martial art that has become very popular around the world as a low impact form of exercise with many health benefits) and Qigong (Pronounced "Chi Gong;" an art of relaxation, meditation, and self-healing which has also become popular around the world for its many health benefits).  During the last Saturday of every April at 10:00 in the morning, people all around the world gather in parks, martial arts schools, and health clubs to learn about these arts and/or to share there knowledge about these arts with their communities free of charge.

On April 27, 2013 World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day will be coming to Amador County in Pine Grove, CA. Our celebration will be starting at 10:00am and ending at 3:00pm.

World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day (WTCQD) is an international celebration of the ancient Chinese arts of Tai Chi and Qi Gong.  At 10:00 in the morning on the last Saturday of every April, thousands upon thousands of Tai Chi and Qi Gong practitioners gather in parks, gyms and martial arts schools all over the world to practice together and learn from one another.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with World Tai Chi and Qigong Day here is a video put out by the founder of this holiday:

This celebration is the prefect oportunity for practitioners of all skill levels to meet other practitioners in their areas and become more aware of the Tai Chi and Qi Gong community near them.  It also presents the perfect opportunity for those who are unfamiliar with these arts, but would like to learn more about them, to meet people that can help them learn all about these ancient Chinese treasures.

At our WTCQD celebration last year, we practiced Qi Gong and everyone went through the simplified Yang Tai Chi 24 postures form.  This year, however, we are planning to have several seminars and workshops available to offer everyone who attends a variety in available information.  (Any local instructors who would like to lead a workshop, seminar, or give a demonstration please contact me before March 31, and I will put you on the schedule.)

Right now the schedule is incomplete, but I will be posting updates as they become available.  So stay tuned.

The following is the schedule as it stands so far:
10:00am to 10:30am = Basic Tai Chi Movements (foundational movements), by Shifu Andrew Plitt
11:00am to 11:30am = Deep Breathing and Mind Training, by Sensei Rodney Peoples (Karate instructor in Pine Grove)
11:30am to 12:30pm = Lunch Break
12:30pm to 1:00pm = Chi Movements, by Marilyn Nutter (Tai Chi instructor in Sutter Creek)
1:30pm to 2:00 = Overview of the 5 Animal Playing Qi Gong, by Shifu Andrew Plitt
2:30pm to 3:00pm = A Brief Overview of the History of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, by Shifu Andrew Plitt
Also, free 5 min. chair massages will be available compliments of Massage Therapist Andrea Newman.
